  • @kendalldevdiary This is the sort of nightmare possibility that keeps me from going all-in on iCloud Keychain instead of 1Password. I wonder if restoring your phone to a pre-logout backup might magically restore the wallet contents too?

  • A tornado formed outside of Jamestown, California today as I prepared for a hike on nearby Table Mountain. After sheltering in my truck through rain and hail, I was able to survey the damage over a ~1400m path. More photos with coordinates: photos.vangorkom.org/Events/Tuolumn… t.co/bsDh4GTkH…

  • @rands LinkedIn has also been hugely valuable for folks who get laid off with zero warning. A way to say goodbyes and exchange contact info.

  • @typaldos @xYuKnw @NWSSacramento Rain’s stopped, but it’s still breezy here on the north end. I can see lightning far away to the east.

  • That was exciting. Tornado warning in California’s central valley. Intense burst of rain and thunder followed by the siren from every device in the house.

Thankful to be safe, for the national weather service, and for the emergency alert system. t.co/9yNM6aCHW…

  • @NWSSacramento Thanks for the warning! Rough way to wake up, but we’re grateful to be safe.

  • @tgcasson Hi Tyler, I love your site’s photos and the exif.js display. Trying to rebuild my own site after Twitter, and looked to your Edge theme fork but didn’t find any EXIF. Would be awesome if you open-sourced your integration, or pointed me to another. Thanks!

  • If you’re just following for the content, try appending .rss to anybody’s alternative profile URL and subscribing in your reader of choice. Help ease the federation load by pulling direct from sources, until things stabilize.

  • Read this 🧵 and interview with @ChimamandaReal, and think not just about canceling each other but about what it means to replace our voices with AI.

Write! I’m grateful for every typo, every hot take, and every time your spark provokes new thoughts, even when you’re 100% wrong. twitter.com/omni_american/…

  • @conradstoll That kind of fundamental selfishness has no place in a society. Our challenges are bigger than we’re equipped to comprehend, and we have to be in this together!

  • @collindonnell I need to write about this trend: we’ve become so obsessed with ubiquity, sync, and central convenience that we forgot about the values of resilience, data ownership, and user experience. Teaching kids about file management after a lifetime of “cloud” started my questioning.

  • @TerseReply @elonmusk @Twitter I think you could do some real good there Mike, as one of the tiny number of people who have the extreme combo of technical acumen, leadership, ships fast, and personal resilience necessary for hardcore Twitter 2.0. Try a Tesla recruiter as backdoor?

  • @alicemazzy From a reader’s perspective, @substack handles the strategy terribly. They assume I have one address that I want shared with all publishers, rather than custom for each like solana@example.com, alicemazzy@example.com, etc…

  • @alicemazzy It’s a standard @fastmail feature, including wildcard From: support perfect for sending replies. I’ve been doing it for years with all businesses and once discovered a data breach. Also leads to fun chats with retail workers e.g. “That’s your email? Really? Do you work here?”

  • @dimsumthinking Yes! Perusing my archive from the early days there’s a ton of banal nonsense, but all of it suffused with community and humanity. I’m here for the people, not the content. I’ll get plenty of content via RSS, thanks.
